“Care” empowers Indian parents to protect their child’s safety, mental well-being, and health—through real-time tools, smart alerts, and everyday guidance.

Indian parents are increasingly struggling to ensure their children's safety, mental well-being, and physical health. The rise in online threats, academic stress, digital addiction, and unhealthy lifestyles makes it difficult to stay in control. Existing parenting tools are fragmented and reactive. There is a clear need for a unified digital solution that helps parents actively monitor, guide, and support their children across key areas of life in a simple and effective way.

The goal of Care was to create a comprehensive parenting app that empowers Indian parents to protect their children’s safety, support their mental well-being, and encourage healthy lifestyles.
The app aims to solve real challenges faced by parents through real-time safety tracking, screen time management, emotional check-ins, and community support tools.
The project scope included identifying core user pain points, designing 8 key features mapped to 3 major business challenges, and building an intuitive mobile experience scalable to 50 million users across India.

Need for tools to manage and block unwanted ads to protect children from inappropriate content.
Ensuring that the content shown to children while watching digital activities like rhymes and educational content is safe.
Parents need reliable methods to ensure the safety of their children when they are outside the home.
How might we enable families to stay connected and respond quickly during emergencies?
How might we equip parents with tools to monitor their child’s safety when the child is outside?
How might we help parents block harmful or explicit content before it reaches their children online?
How might we enable parents to track and guide their child's digital behavior across devices and platforms?

Each feature was carefully crafted to solve specific user pain points while aligning with broader business goals. The design decisions were driven by research insights, usability testing, and a strong focus on building trust, simplicity, and accessibility for millions of parents across India.
Real-Time Safety Monitoring
Through user interviews, parents expressed deep concern about their child’s safety when away from home, especially in crowded or unfamiliar environments. This feature addresses the business challenge of child abuse and safety by enabling real-time tracking and geofencing alerts, ensuring parents can monitor their child's location and receive instant notifications if they move outside safe zones.
Emergency SOS Setup (adding contact)
Parents shared the need for a quick way their child could reach out in emergencies, especially in high-stress or dangerous situations. This feature directly tackles the business challenge of weak emergency response systems by allowing children to send an SOS with their live location and surroundings to trusted contacts instantly.
Mental Well-being Check-In
The research revealed growing parental concerns around children feeling anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed, particularly due to academic pressure and digital overload. To address the mental health crisis among children, this feature allows daily emotional check-ins, helping parents identify early signs of distress and respond with support.
Screen Time Balance
Parents often struggle with setting healthy screen time boundaries, with many resorting to device confiscation as a last resort. This feature responds to the business need to combat digital addiction by providing parents with tools to monitor, limit, and guide screen time habits in a structured and positive way.
Family Tab
Parents reported a disconnect in emotional engagement during busy schedules or exam periods. This feature helps address the business need for emotional bonding by offering a shared space for families to post messages, share moments, and stay connected in a meaningful and uplifting way.
Connect Tab
Several parents expressed a sense of isolation and lack of trusted parenting guidance. This feature meets the need for community-driven support by giving parents access to expert-led webinars and forums, allowing them to learn from professionals and share experiences with other caregivers.

To ensure the solution was rooted in real user needs, I conducted interviews with several Indian parents to understand their daily parenting challenges, concerns, and routines.
Through these conversations, I identified recurring pain points around safety, mental health, and digital habits. Using these insights, I created user personas that represented different types of parents—each with distinct needs, motivations, and behaviors.
We conducted usability testing with the initial wireframes focusing on six core features: Emergency SOS Alerts, Real-Time Alert Notifications, Parental Insights Dashboard, Real-Time Content Safety, Safety Learning Center, and Family Communication Hub. During these sessions, users were asked to complete specific tasks tied to each feature.
Their feedback highlighted areas for improvement such as the clarity of the SOS setup flow, notification customization, and dashboard readability.
Based on these insights, we refined the interface by improving button placements, adjusting the visual hierarchy, and simplifying complex interactions to make the experience more intuitive and parent-friendly.

Designing for Trust Is Crucial in Parent-Tech
Building features around child safety and well-being taught me that clarity, transparency, and reassurance are essential to earning user trust — especially when the product involves children.
Research-Driven Design Makes a Real Difference
Interviewing real parents and testing early wireframes helped me uncover pain points I wouldn't have assumed. Every feature became more relevant and user-friendly because it was grounded in actual needs.
Iterative Testing Helps Solve for Real Behavior, Not Just Hypotheticals
Testing wireframes with users helped identify gaps in flows that seemed obvious on paper but failed in practice. Small feedback — like button confusion or missing confirmations — led to major usability improvements.
